This year was also the year to select the Canadian F3A team to compete in the World Championship in Portugal in 2009.
The competition this year was very good. There were 8 contestants, the most we have seen in Canada at a team selection for some time. Except for 1st. place, which was pretty much sewn up for Chad, I would say that 2nd and 3rd was up for grabs. Dez looked like he was well on the way to a team spot once again but 3rd. was for anyone to take.
When the dust cleared the new team was Chad Northeast in first, Dezso Vaghy in second and Dan Venables in third. I don't know the actual point spread but less than 1 point separated 3rd. from 4th. place. Xavier Mauroux place 4th. and will be the alternate.
For a variety of reasons I personally opted out of this part of the competition but I plan to stay in Pattern competition and will likely try for the next team in 2011.
